We are, slowly but surely, heading towards Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. July is all set to see the hit anime adapt one of the most exciting arcs from the manga. It also arrives smack bang in the middle of an incredible 2023 for anime fans that includes Demon Slayer season 3 and Attack on Titan's Final Chapters.
But, whisper it, Jujutsu Kaisen could be the star of the show as Jujutsu High opens its doors once more. If you need a primer before the show returns, check out our guide below. We've got the latest on release dates, trailers, how the Jujutsu Kaisen movie fits into the series, and even word from animation studio MAPPA's CEO on the new season.
He told Crunchyroll (opens in new tab): \"The first season of the television series and the movie have been very, very successful. We would like to leverage that success for season 2, but we are not going to be doing the same thing and repeat ourselves. To the fans of the series, I would like to show even greater success and bigger growth in season 2.\"
The first Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer has been released as part of the Jump Festa event. Showcasing brief snippets of some of the season's key players, the Japanese teaser is a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come, even without any real footage. Watch it above.
There's also a post-credits scene which sets up future events in the anime. It revolves around Yuta heading back to Japan and into the fold of the main series, though it's not yet known if he'll turn up in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.
Fans of \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" have had to endure a long wait for a second season of the anime. Season 1 debuted on October 3, 2020, dropping on the same day as \"Haikyuu!! To the Top Part 2\" and \"Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You.\" It became a word of mouth smash over the next few months, and by the time the final episode of Season 1 aired on March 27, 2021, \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" was the talk of the anime world.
The first season of \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" primarily pulls from four arcs of Gege Akutami's manga: \"Fearsome Womb,\" \"Vs. Mahito,\" \"Kyoto Goodwill Event,\" and \"Death Painting.\" The upcoming second season won't cover as many, though one of the arcs that it's based on is considerably longer than the rest. Per an announcement on the official \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" website, Season 2 will adapt two manga arcs: \"Gojo's Past\" and \"Shibuya Incident.\"
\"Jujutsu Kaisen\" boasts a number of experienced voice actors among its cast. Protagonist Yuji Itadori is voiced by Junya Enoki in the original Japanese version. Enoki is probably best known for voicing Takeru Takaishi in the \"Digimon\" franchise, though Disney+ subscribers may know him from the anthology series \"Star Wars: Visions,\" as he voices Karre in the Season 1 episode \"The Twins.\" Satoru Gojo, the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer on the planet, is voiced by Yƻichi Nakamura, who has over 300 credits to his name. He has worked on everything from \"JoJo's Bizarre Adventure\" and \"One Punch Man\" to \"My Hero Academia.\"
The first season of \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" was animated by MAPPA, a relatively new name in the anime game but a renowned one nonetheless. It was founded in 2011 by Masao Maruyama (MAPPA stands for Maruyama Animation Produce Project Association), an anime veteran who co-founded the famous studio Madhouse in the 1970s. MAPPA is behind such hits as \"Terror in Resonance,\" Yuri on Ice,\" \"Kakegurui,\" and \"Dorohedoro.\"
After seeing the Season 2 trailer, \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" writer and illustrator Gege Akutami (whose real name and gender remain a mystery) revealed that they were thrilled about the work MAPPA is doing with their prized property. \"I can clearly feel their enthusiasm to make it even better based on the first season,\" they said in a note shared on the anime's official Twitter feed. \"I'm really looking forward to it! I sent canned crabs to the studio the other day, so please eat them!\"
If you haven't seen the first season of \"Jujutsu Kaisen\" yet, or you just want to re-watch it before Season 2 comes out, then you can stream it on Crunchyroll, where it has a five-star rating (the average user score is 4.9). There are plenty of dubs to choose from: On top of an English language version, there's German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, as well as Latin American Spanish and Portuguese. If you prefer to watch the original Japanese version with subtitles, it's available in all of the languages mentioned above as well as Arabic and European Portuguese.
Jujutsu Kaisen was one of the most exciting new Shonen anime released in 2020, with fun characters, stellar animation, and fights that were truly hype-worthy. As such, fans have eagerly awaited new installments of the show since the first season concluded in March of 2021. They were treated to the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in December 2021, which served as a prequel to the series' main story, but since then there hasn't been any new animated Jujutsu Kaisen content. But that will all change in 2023.
While no official confirmation has been made that the voice cast from the first season will reprise their roles in Season 2, it is all but given that most if not all the actors will return. Most of the major characters from the first season who are still alive, like Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara will return at some point in the season as they all have major roles to play in the Shibuya Incident Arc. There has unfortunately been no news yet on which voice actors have been cast for any of the new characters set to appear in the season, like fan favorite Toji Fushiguro. The anime will be produced again by Studio Mappa and will likely again feature many of the staff who worked on the first season.
With the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel film premiering in Japan back in late December 2021 and its North American release just around the corner, fans of the beloved anime series have another reason to be excited as it has been confirmed that the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will be arriving in 2023.
During a stage event today celebrating the success of the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (via Crunchyroll), it was confirmed that season two of the anime series was in production and is slated to broadcast in 2023. The panel for the big announcement comprised of several voice actors from both the movie and TV series, including Junya Enoki and Megumi Ogata, who play the series star Yuji Itadori, and film star Yuta Okkotsu, respectively. The panel also included Kana Hanizawa, who plays Yuta's friend, Rika Orimoto, Yuichi Nakamura, the voice of both series and film star Satoru Gojo, and Takahiro Sakurai, who voices Suguru Geto.
It was also confirmed that the animation studio MAPPA, the studio that was behind the first season's animation and is the team that animated the currently airing final season of Attack On Titan, will be returning to animate the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Along with this announcement, Jujutsu Kaisen manga writer and illustrator Gege Akutami released a brand-new piece of artwork of Yuta Okkotsu to celebrate the announcement of the series' second season. The special illustration was posted on the official Twitter page of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will premiere sometime in 2023. The prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will see its North America release on March 18. You can see the tweet showcasing the new illustration by Akutami down below.
December has been loaded with big announcements, and it was only going to get better with the Jump Festa 2023. The first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, like the manga, was an instant massive hit. The story of Yuji Itadori aired from October 2020 to March 2021. This year the fans had a chance to see the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, an the adaption of the manga of the same name that serves as a prequel to the main story. The movie premiered first in Japan during 2021 Christmas and in March for the rest of the world, and it became one of the most successful anime box office performances in recent history.
An exact date hasn't been revealed yet, but it is confirmed that the window for the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is July 2023. It will air continuously for half a year, until the end of 2023, and cover two entire Arcs of the manga, the Hidden Inventory Premature Death Arc, and the Shibuya Incident Arc. As shown in the 1-minute teaser, it will go deeper into Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto as students and their relationship, something that was already a subject in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. All the main cast will return and MAPPA is also working on the animation again, some of the various aspects that excelled in the first 24-episode season.
The series published by Shueisha and Viz Media in the English version is already one of the top sellers of all time with over 70 million copies in circulation. Regarding the anime adaptation, both the film and Season 1 are available to watch on Crunchyroll, where it will also simulcast the next season.
After a year, MAPPA turned Cursed Child Arc into a prequel film titled \"Jujutsu Kaisen 0,\" which grossed $196 million worldwide and became Japan's 16th highest-grossing film, competing with films such as Avatar, Titanic, and Oscar-winning anime Spirited Away. With the second season on its way, fans are eager to see MAPPA animate one of the manga's most exciting arcs. With that in mind, here's everything we know about Jujutsu Kaisen season two, one of 2023's most anticipated anime shows.
Before we get into the second season's plot, let's review what happened in the first. Itadori Yuuji, an ordinary high school student, discovers a cursed spirit at his school during the night. Megumi, a Jujutsu Sorceror, arrives just in time to save him and his friends, but he nearly dies since the opponent is too powerful for him. In an effort to save Megumi, Itadori consumes the cursed finger that gives power to whoever swallows it, giving Sukuna, the king of all curses, a means of existence in the young boy's body. Gojo Satoru, Megumi's teacher, eventually learns that Itadori has swallowed the cursed finger. After discovering that Itadori can switch back and forth, he allows him to join Jujutsu High, which leads to a series of adventures. 59ce067264
